All horseback riding tickets need to be purchased at the Stagecoach office, located on the main street (Wallace St) in Virginia City. Look for the stagecoach and signs. Rides depart from the south end of the RV/Trailer parking lot located on the West end of Virginia City, directly North of the train depot.
1/2 Hr - a very gentle loop around the pond by the train depot. Excellent for those who are nervous, have had a "bad experience" or small children just learning the skill.
1 Hr - Travels south of Virginia City, up Alder Gulch, takes a nice draw up to BLM ground where you will have an excellent view of town from the south. The ride comes to a close as you ride through a few blocks of the historic gold mining community.
2 Hr - Climb to an old gold mill in the foothills surrounding Virginia City. This has the best view of town. You can see Boot Hill, Wallace Street, the courthouse (built to be the state capital building) and the entire layout of town. The ride continues north towards Nevada City as you ride through the tailings by the creek!
Pony Rides are available for riders too small to control their own horse on the trail. Parents may walk with the child or watch from the tie rails.
